Class to Pass in 3 Weeks

The exam process

In order to become an ADI there are 3 'register qualifying examinations' Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3, which are conducted by the DSA; details of which are given below along with how we will help you to prepare for each.

The ADI Theory Test (Part 1)

This test consists of 100 multiple choice questions followed by 14 hazard perception video clips all done on a touch-screen computer.  It is a similar format to the learner theory test, but you are asked more questions and of course the pass marks are higher.  The test may be taken at any DSA theory test centre and there is one in every major town or city.

We will provide you with one of the most comprehensive packages of training materials in the industry comprising of several Official DSA publications including the complete bank of official DSA questions, DSA recommended publications, video/DVD material and computer software to ensure that you get off to the best possible start.  You will also be placed on our Theory Course which is done over two weeks as an evening class.  Preparing well for your Part 1 will give you a good knowledge base and most importantly good understanding.  This is absolutely essential in your quest to become a good driving instructor.
During your Part 1 preparation, we invite you to commence your Part 2 training if you wish, where your personal trainer can help you to prepare for the hazard perception element of the Part 1 exam.  This is done both `on the road' and through the use of computer based simulations.  We consider this very important as this part of the test is difficult and demands good preparation.  Our combination of in-car and computer preparation will put you in the best possible position to succeed.

The Test of Driving Ability (Part 2)

This test is basically an advanced driving test where you must show a high standard of driving. It lasts for about an hour and may be taken at a DSA regional driving test centre.

We will prepare you for this exam in our training vehicles, guided by our highly skilled trainers. The amount and frequency of training required varies from person to person and this will be tailored to you as an individual.  We understand that you may have developed bad habits over the years, but we also understand that you have a wealth of experience on which to build.

Your training sessions will be designed to develop your driving skills to make you an even better driver and we are confident that as a side effect you will find driving more pleasurable than ever, after all, we all enjoy doing something that we're good at. This training is flexible and may be taken at a pace that is suited to your needs. Of course we will work around your existing commitments.

On the day of your test, if you like we will accompany you to the test centre to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible and we will provide one of our training vehicles for your use during your test something that many training providers do not do.

The Test of Instructor Ability (Part 3)

The object of this test is to assess the quality of your instruction and your ability to pass your knowledge on to pupils.  This is done using role-play, the examiner taking on the role of a learner driver.  There are 10 pre-set tests that the examiner can choose from.  The test lasts for about an hour and may be taken at any regional driving test centre.

This is by far the most challenging of the 3 examinations and it is crucial that you receive the right training.  Just because an instructor may be good at teaching learner drivers, they may not be able to teach how to teach effectively.  Instructional technique training is a very specialist skill and you can rest assured that when you train with DTC your trainer will be amongst the best in the country. This part of the training is again done in one of our training vehicles. Role play is used extensively and we will provide you with our own comprehensive Part 3 training guide and high quality visual aids.  As with Part 2, your training will be tailored to you as an individual.  Remember, there is no limit to the amount of training you receive.  It is in our interest in order to maintain our position as one of the leading training providers to ensure that you are ready for this exam.

Once again, on the day of your test your trainer will accompany you if you request this and we will provide you with the use of one of our vehicles.  This is very important because it can be difficult to get a car with the correct insurance for this exam again many training providers do not offer this.
