Class to Pass in 3 Weeks

Pass plus from dtc

What is the Pass Plus Course?

Pass Plus was introduced by the DSA in an attempt to help promote safer driving. The course itself can be thought of as 'advanced driving lessons'.  They fill in the gaps that the standard driving test doesn't cover and can help increase confidence for drivers who have just passed their driving test.  It's worth noting that the DSA refer to the Pass Plus modules as a course rather than lessons.  There is no test at the end of the course as you are assessed by the driving instructor and not by an examiner. You already know how to drive, the Pass Plus course is to help you gain confidence and experience on roads and in conditions you are unlikely to have faced on your previous driving lessons.

Why should I take Pass Plus?

There are numerous benefits to completing the Pass Plus course.  As you must start the course within 6 months of having passed your driving test the most obvious one is the increased confidence that you get on the road.  You can even use your own car to take the modules in.  There are also insurance companies that offer discounts to people who have completed the Pass Plus course (these can be found on the Pass Plus website).  Pass Plus is really about safer driving though, and for this reason alone it is a good idea to consider taking it.

What are the benefits of Pass Plus?

A recent survey carried out on behalf of the DSA showed that amongst those who had taken the Pass Plus course:

  • 93% felt more confident on the road

  • 89% considered that their driving had improved

Listed below are the benefits that Pass Plus offers to you as a driver:

  • enables you to gain quality driving experience safely

  • helps you become a more skilful driver

  • teaches you how to develop a "Positive Driving" style which is both enjoyable and safe

  • reduces your risk of being involved in a road crash
