The practical driving test
The test
will start with an eyesight test. You must be able to read a new style
registration plate at a distance of 20 metres. If you cannot do this, your
test will be terminated and your fee will be lost.

Next, you will be asked two 'Show and Tell' questions. Your instructor will prepare you for this element and supply the study material required. See Show Me - Tell Me.
You will
then be examined on your general driving and on two of the three reversing
manoeuvres you will be taught by your instructor. You may also be asked to
carry out an emergency stop exercise. Driving

A standard driving test takes about 40 minutes during which you can
accumulate 15 minor driving faults. Any more then that or too many in one
category will result in your attempt being unsuccessful. Any serious or
dangerous faults will also result in failure.

If you do fail your practical test, you do not need to re-sit your theory test (providing you do pass the practical test within two years of passing the theory test).
